Let’s take a moment to thank the silent heroes who work every day to protect and care for animals in our communities — our Animal Care & Control officers. Their compassion and dedication make a huge difference in the lives of so many animals (and people)!
This week, honor them by doing something extra special: adopt your new best friend from one of our local animal control shelters. There are so many loving, adoptable dogs waiting for a second chance.

Meet Sweet Senior Annie
Annie is a gentle golden girl who has found herself at Berkeley County Animal Control through no fault of her own. This lovely senior soul is looking for a soft place to land—a calm, loving home where she can spend her golden years surrounded by kindness and comfort.
Annie may be older, but her heart is just as full of love as ever. She’s quiet, sweet-natured, and just wants someone to share her days with. A warm bed, a kind hand, and someone to love her for the rest of her days—that’s all she asks for.
Please take a moment to consider opening your heart and home to Annie. Senior dogs like her have so much love left to give, and they deserve the peace and happiness of a forever home.
Interested? Reach out to Berkeley County Animal Control to learn more about adopting Annie.

Let’s make sure this sweet girl knows what it means to be truly loved.
Sweet Diego came to us as a stray. Through our investigation we were able to determine his previous owner.
Poor Diego was in such bad shape when he initially came into our care. He was emaciated, has various wounds, and generally didn't feel well. After lots of TLC and some initial vetting, Diego is feeling MUCH better.
He is feeling well enough to run, play, and act like a "normal" dog!
The vet said Diego still likely needs a tail amputation, and maybe entropion surgery. Unfortunately this poor guy is still painful at times and isn't overly tolerant of us "doctoring" him up.
Diego needs a rescue commitment, or an adopter with the resources to provide him with the further vet care he needs.
We really love this guy. He is a young dog that has had a rough go in life so far. He is so deserving and has SO much potential!
If you're with a rescue that can help Diego, please email ibrown@morgancountywv.gov or call MCAC office at 304-258-6363!
Meet Finn! Adoption FEE is sponsored!
Finn is a 10 year old Labrador Retriever. Finn is a "Field-Bred" Labrador, meaning this guy was bred to WORK! Finn is an athlete, although he hasn't been conditioned in recent years.
Finn has competed previously in trials and competitions, though we don't know the extent of his work history. We don't think he ever hunted in real life.
Even as a senior, Finn is still very active. He can't traditionally "work" anymore at his age, but he isn't going to be content laying on a couch and getting fat. He LOVES to fetch and will retrieve for hours.
Finn needs a family that will help him stay active when he wants to be active. He also wouldn't complain if he had plenty of soft spots to lounge around when he's feeling his age.
If you're interested in giving this very good boy a home for the rest of his life, please email ibrown@morgancountywv.gov or call office at 304-258-6363!
Meet Rover! This young guy is the SWEETEST & most affectionate fella! He has dog tested well & loves every person he meets! Despite his age (we're guessing around 9 months), he has very manageable energy! We honestly have no idea why we haven't had much adoption interest! If you're interested in meeting this awesome dude, please email ibrown@morgancountywv.gov or call 304-258-6363!
Bailey was originally adopted from AC as a young puppy, She is back at animal control. No small children. She may be Australian Cattle Dog (Red Heeler)/Lab mix. She is approx 2 years old & has appropriate energy for her breed mix/age, and age. She is super friendly and outgoing! We want Bailey's next home to be her forever home! Bailey does well on a leash and okay during car rides. If you'r
Meet Nala! Nala came to Animal Control as a stray and was never reclaimed. She is such a happy & affectionate girl. It's hard NOT to fall in love with her big, sweet, brown eyes or absolutely adorable smile! Nala loves nothing more than cozy-ing up and getting plenty of pets and belly rubs! If you're interested in Nala, please email ibrown@morgancountywv.gov or call our office at 304-258-6363!
